Central West Specialized Developmental Services (CWSDS)

Services include:

  • Residential programs on-site at their Oakville location and off-site at their four community homes
  • Non-emergency respite care for up to a week at a time at their Oakville location
  • Education, treatment planning, interpretation, and support for families of individuals with a dual diagnosis through a regional Dual Diagnosis Clinical service
  • Central West Region Passport Initiative for individuals who have completed school and are seeking support for participation in the community
  • Videoconferencing for training, education and clinical conferences
  • Case management support through the Dual Diagnosis and Justice Specialist


Founded in 1975 as Oaklands Regional Centre, CWSDS works to improve the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities who have complex needs by providing specialized services and supports, leadership in education, and by working with their partners to develop communities of excellence within the Central West Region of Ontario.  With a strong focus on driving innovation and excellence in specialized services for individuals with developmental disabilities, CWSDS provides a wide range of residential and non-residential services for youth and adults with special needs.

CWSDS also serves as the lead agency in the Central West region for the Community Networks of Specialized Care (CNSC). For more info on the CNSC, visit www.community-networks.ca.
