Frequently Asked Questions

What is your intake procedure?
  • AIR verifies that the individual (up to age 18), parent or guardian is in agreement with the referral or information being released and gathers any documentation required to determine eligibility.
  • For information requests, AIR will assist over the phone and mail any information requested.
  • For referral requests, AIR will describe available service options, fax or mail the referral to the requested agencies, and mail a confirmation and information package to the individual or family.  AIR will contact the individual or family when they have been informed of a vacancy.
  • Additional referrals or requests for information can be made at any time by contacting AIR. The person’s file is updated at this time.
When will I be contacted?

For most services a contact person at the receiving agency is designated to respond to you within a specified time frame. For other services such as respite, your name will be kept at AIR until AIR is notified of a vacancy.  At that time, AIR reviews the waitlist.  Names are selected from this list and families are contacted and offered the service.

What if my situation changes?

If you are on a waitlist and your situation changes, you, your family or worker can make updates to the referral at any time by completing the Referral Update form available below. You can also call us if this is more convenient. AIR will review the referral priority rating, and notify you, the service you are waiting for, and the person forwarding the update of any change made in your priority rating.

Where can I find the forms I need to complete my intake paperwork or update my information?
What if I move out of the county?

AIR can assist in making referrals to the county where you will be moving. There may be an Access Centre in your new area. Please contact us if you would like to  start this process.

AIR will also notify the services you are active with or waiting for in Wellington that you have moved.
